AARP is an organization, based in the United States, dedicated to the interests of older persons (aged 50 and up). The organization is widely known for advancing the interests of aging populations through lobbying efforts at the state and national governmental level. They also negotiate reduced rates for members at various tourist attractions, automobile rental companies, motel and hotel chains, etc. They provide programs for reduced cost medical and automobile insurance. Together with the International League, it contested the Little World Series which determined the best team in minor league baseball. In 1997, the American Association disbanded. Its teams either migrated to the east coast based International League or the west coast Pacific Coast League. For most of its existence it was made up of teams from the central part of the US.
